Multitudes makes it easy for engineering teams to turn metrics into action. It brings DORA, SPACE, and DevEx metrics to life with nudges in Slack to improve team performance. By integrating with tools like GitHub, Linear, Jira, PagerDuty, Google Calendar, AI tooling, and more, Multitudes uncovers what work is blocked, warning signs of AI slop, and who’s getting less support – and then guides teams to action . Ultimately, the tool helps teams to achieve continuous improvement – like this team at Clara that reduced their Change Lead Time by 89% over a year.
The driving force
Multitudes identified a significant opportunity to expand further in the European market by onboarding a key prospective customer. This opportunity, however, came with a critical requirement. The customer needed a guarantee that all their data and application processing would stay within Europe.
To meet this demand, Multitudes needed to stand up an instance of their application in the European AWS cloud within a tight timeline. With a bumper product roadmap already in motion, the team required temporary expertise to deliver this work so internal engineers could remain focused on customer innovation. Multitudes brought in ClearPoint to assist with the complex migration and provide ongoing maintenance.
The approach
A ClearPoint Principal AWS Engineer worked with the Multitudes team for a one-month engagement to recreate the existing application in Europe. The task was made harder because of dependencies that had been added to existing services over time. This required the team, along with the ClearPoint Principal AWS Engineer, to first map out and untangle the various connections.
ClearPoint and the Multitudes team worked through the dependences amongst the components to stand up copies in AWS in Europe. The ClearPoint engineer also created a major new application component to easily route the incoming network traffic between the European and US-based versions of the application. This had to be done while ensuring no downtime for existing customers.
The Outcome
Through carefully recreating the existing app and re-purposing for AWS in Europe, Multitudes now has a set up that allows them to grow in other AWS regions.
They have been able to onboard their new European customer and guarantee to them that all their data and processing takes place in Europe. They are also able to offer this guarantee to other large European customers which increases the market for their product. Josh Jacobsen, Multitudes Head of Engineering was satisfied with the result.
Huge thanks and appreciation to Terence for the work that he’s done for us over the past month. It's hard to believe it's been just a month and not longer given what he’s achieved in that time. There is absolutely no way we could have spun up the EU data pipelines this quickly without him."
