ClearPoint were proud sponsors of the Business Transformation through Digital and IT award at the NZ CIO Awards for 2020.

The finalists in this category were:

PlaceMakers is New Zealand’s largest building supply company. In 2017, it implemented a digital programme following a shift in business strategy to improve its customer service quality.

With a focus on improved service, the programme transformed three major points of contact with the customer: Optimised in-store digital processes such as mobile transaction systems; built a transport management solution with end-to-end visibility for staff and customers; and created an online customer channel for purchases, queries, and order tracking. Overall, the digital programme saves PlaceMakers staff over 100 years of labour, reduces phone calls by more than half a million, and puts over 1.2 million transactions through digital channels per year.

The Inland Revenue

Te Tari Taake, New Zealand Inland Revenue, plays a prominent role in providing economic and social wellbeing for around 3 million New Zealanders each year. In a multi-stage digital transformation, Inland Revenue has successfully transformed New Zealand’s revenue system by automating the process of collecting and distributing money to the population. This saves considerable time and costs for individual customers, employers, businesses, and government services. The deployment of its START technology platform has enabled a seamless integration of all tax and social policy products – a world first for a revenue organization.

Countdown supermarkets employ over 20,000 Kiwis, and serve more than 3 million New Zealanders at 183 supermarkets each week. CountdownX, Countdown’s digital business unit, expanded Countdown’s digital operations and accelerated its digital transformation in response to COVID-19. The unit coped with massive surges in demand for online shopping during lockdowns. CountdownX increased capacity for online grocery delivery by 60%, stood up a brand-new Priority Assistance online shopping service in just 5 days, opened New Zealand’s first dedicated supermarket e-store, launched a new virtual assistant, and pivoted to agile remote working. CountdownX harnessed the power of technology and data to deliver at scale and speed during a crisis.
